How does Estrogen and Soy Milk effect of female body

The lifestyle and food choices of many women has a direct effect on the level of estrogen in the body. Research has found that some dietary foods, such as foods made of soy in particular, has a direct effect on the estrogen levels in the body. The information below provides an overview of the link between estrogen and soy milk, their similarities, the role of each and how both affects the female body.

Estrogen


Estrogen, which is the generic term for estrus-producing compounds, is found in the female body and is the female sex hormone. Estrogen consist of (E1), (E2) and (E3) – short for Estrone, Estradoil and Estriol, respectively. The role of estrogen includes the contribution to a female’s menstrual cycle and sexual reproduction – or the ability to bear children. A woman’s body produces estrogen naturally. Once estrogen is no longer created , lower levels of estrogen are present . As a result, a woman’s body may be affected in variety of ways. Since estrogen is a hormone that is required for the normal development and growth of organs used for childbearing and the development and the growth of the breast, the risk for breast cancer increases as women are exposed to more estrogen in their lifetime.
There has also been some association with estrogen and breast cancer risk because of estrogen’s role in stimulating cell division within the breast and its effect on other hormones that further stimulate cell division within the breast. This process is often linked to various forms of breast cancer.

Soy Milk


Soy milk has gained popularity with in the past several years. The soy in the milk as well as other soy based food is obtained by processing soybeans. Tofu, a very common source of soy is found in a variety of dairy substitutes containing soy, including soy cheese, soy burgers, meat substitutes and the popular soy milk.
Soymilk is an excellent source of vitamins including, vitamin A, vitamin B-12 and vitamin D. It also has as much protein as a cow’s milk. Because soy is a plant-based estrogen known as phytoestrogen, its functions are similar to the estrogen found in the female body. It consists of two isoflavones that has similar roles as estrogen, they are called daidzein and .genistein. Since estrogen plays a role on the body that is linked to breast cancer, there’s been some controversy concerning estrogen and soy within the body.
Some studies indicate that soy reduces the risk of cancer. Thus far, there has not been proof that soy is linked to cancer. In fact the American Cancer Society indicates that such a link is still being researched and more analysis is required before making such a determination. However, at this time, according to the study there’s no indication that soy causes cancer risks. Additionally, foods that are made of soy have been known to reduce the risk or even prevent breast cancer.
To summarize, there is no indication that soy causes potential for harm at this stage.
